This summer, Emma will shed light on how we can grow!

This summer, InExchange will be mapped a little extra by an external resource that we would like to warmly welcome. Emma Joelsson, a student at Linköping University, will spend eight weeks analyzing our company and looking strategically at how we can expand. "It feels great to have this opportunity," says Emma, who will start work in a week.

First of all, of course, you want to know what Visma's Summer Internship is all about. We'll leave it to Emma to explain in more detail.
- Visma Summer Internship is a program where students, in either business management or data-IT, can apply to test what it's like to be a project manager for a strategic project. That was also why I applied. I am very interested in business management. I see this as a great chance to learn a lot about that type of project and about the project management role itself.
In Emma's case, it helped that she had some prior knowledge of Visma. When the group put the word out that it was looking for candidates for this summer's Internship, she was on her toes. She had seen what previous years' participants had said, how much fun they had had and what valuable experiences they had gained.
- Visma's Internship is for people who have one or two years left of their education, Emma clarifies and points out the situation for herself:
- I'm still studying at Linköping University. I have studied for a master's degree in design and product development, which is actually more in mechanical engineering. Then I am now studying a master's in business management. That's why I'm positioned in Linköping, but I'm actually from Norrköping.

Experience with similar projects

If we take on the task associated with InExchange, which is part of Visma's large group, it is about analyzing and strategically determining how we as a company can continue our exciting growth.
"Of course it would be fun to perhaps contribute with insights that InExchange can use," says Emma with some caution.
That's how it can be without a doubt. Although Emma is not very familiar with InExchange, she has significant experience in the context.
- I have worked quite a lot through student engagement and also in projects with different companies. Projects that are still quite similar to this job, I would say. For example, various strategic projects such as go-to-market and general customer surveys, she explains and elaborates:
- I also have experience of other summer projects. For example, for Linköping University's business incubator LEAD where I also learned a lot about strategic projects. I have some experience, but I want to learn a lot more. That's why it's so great to have this opportunity.
What is it that makes growth and strategy so exciting in your eyes?
- I would say that it is very much about problem solving. To do a thorough strategic job, you really have to understand the type of industry and company you are working with and I enjoy that. It's fun to look up information, to talk to potential customers, for example, and then do the analysis work and draw conclusions from that. Then it is also fun to present these conclusions and suggestions in the next step and perhaps get the current client to use and apply one or more parts of what has been presented.
Emma thinks for a second and adds:
- So that's what I like, that it's a problem-solving process where you learn a lot along the way.

Creative soul who loves animals

Emma will work on the InExchange project from Visma's office in Stockholm. Whether it will be Skövde and Östersund this summer, where InExchange has its operations centered, remains to be seen. "It would be nice," says Emma, "but our capital city also attracts it.
- I have worked a bit in Stockholm. It will be fun to be there. I like Stockholm as a city, she says happily.
Last but not least, in the midst of all the talk about strategies and Summer Internship, we actually forgot to introduce Emma. We'll do that now. Better late than never.
- I'm turning 24 this year and I'm originally from Norrköping. In my spare time I like to paint and do different projects at home. I like to be creative. Then I am a very big animal lover. I try to spend as much time as possible with animals. I have two little rabbits at home, called Herman and Heli, who I like to spend as much time with as possible," concludes our summer reinforcement.
