Eventful year creating new prospects

Ola Widegren_2024

A bigger and stronger Inexchange was formed a year ago.
The effect has not been long in coming. The company has a new look and a refreshed website, launched a more complete product line and grown outside Sweden through an acquisition in Iceland.
"It's been an extremely eventful year and it's really been about big things," says Ola Widegren, CEO of Inexchange.

It was at the turn of last year that Inexchange and Scancloud joined forces and broke out in their own version of "When we two become one". As two separate Visma companies, they saw a benefit in combining each other's strengths and taking advantage of them as one company.
A year later, CEO Ola Widegren notes that "a lot has happened", but he emphasizes that this was also the ambition. He knew the potential. With the capacity and know-how available, there were good conditions for carrying out lots of projects and tasks of various kinds.
"I think it has gone according to expectations in some ways. We had a pretty ambitious goal, but if you look at the strategy picture we set up, you can see that we have done the things we intended to do. Plus a few more actually", he says and adds a little modestly:
"When you sum up, you have to be pretty happy anyway."

Many great things

The work that has been done is also very broad.
To begin with, the range of services aimed at customers has been expanded.
Additional services have been launched in the various product segments.
The first part of the ongoing expansion of the product suite is in production.
Since then, there have been major external changes.
One of two head offices, the one in Östersund, has moved into new, fresh premises.
Inexchange has grown as a business unit and acquired a company in Iceland that was previously only half-owned.
The company has changed its design and undergone a so-called rebranding, which has resulted in a new logo, new colors and a new layout on the website.
Internal progress is also numerous.
A stronger partner team has been established in terms of resources, which has established new partnerships both within and outside Visma.
The use of AI has been expanded in several areas.
With the merger, more business has been moved in-house, which has strengthened the business and increased efficiency.

A first step

If we were to highlight one of the points in particular, it is of course the business in Iceland. In terms of existing customers, it's not a huge story, but it's a company that has emerged within its own company cluster and belongs in another country.
"It's still cool. It is the first step towards becoming international. Which is also important symbolically. We want to go out into Europe when the EU directives for e-invoicing come into place and now we have shown that we are capable of realizing this. We have also started doing business in Germany", emphasizes Ola Widegren.

But the domestic market is still the foundation and is constantly in focus, the most important thing of all is to continue to be a leader in Sweden. Another foundation is the environmental perspective. With services that contribute to sustainability and a green transition, it naturally becomes a priority area. The fact that e-invoices are more environmentally friendly than paper is a given, but the paper handling that takes place under the company's auspices also has a positive environmental impact.
"Instead of the letters going out to each addressed company, they are consolidated by us to one and the same place. This saves a lot of freight here and there. Something that in turn means significantly less exhaust emissions", Ola notes with satisfaction.

Ready for ViDA

Strong growth, increased turnover and profits, climate-smart products and foreign markets in sight. Inexchange is in an exciting position. Late last fall, VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) was also adopted. This means that e-invoicing will be mandatory for all cross-border transactions within the EU from 2030 and that the same requirements will be imposed nationally in several countries before then.
"It's important to be prepared. Both as an operator and a customer. We have always been at the forefront of change. It is a flexibility and strength we strive to safeguard", explains Ola Widegren and concludes by pointing out:
"You can see in the case of Germany what a single legislative framework can do. The EU is the locomotive of the digital transformation. It is of the utmost importance for us to be on that train."
