InExchange - Part of our environmental work

Christer Björkman, Project Manager

vasacronanmalmo

Vasakronan is Sweden's largest real estate company. It owns and manages office and retail properties in Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg and Malmö.
For a company of this size, there is always the risk of some negative impact on the environment, but despite its size and scope, the company manages to minimize its impact. The entire group is committed to environmentally friendly practices. This includes everything from green electricity, eco-labeled purchases to reduced paper routines.

- "InExchange contributes directly to our environmental work by reducing paper use and transportation, which accounts for a fairly large part of the company's environmental footprint," says Christer Björkman, project manager for IT at Vasakronan.
At an environmentally conscious group like Vasakronan, the transition to e-invoices was a matter of course. The company was also an early adopter. In fact, they became customers of InExchange as early as 2011 and have since worked very purposefully to digitize their invoice management.
By keeping a consistent line, they have achieved the intended result.
The process has also been accelerated by the supplier processing that InExchange assists with. InExchange has contacted the company's suppliers who have not been able to send e-invoices and offered them invoicing services based on their needs and conditions.
This processing has also made a difference.

Fast and good deployment

The effect has thus been the desired one. Since May 1, 2016, Vasakronan has only accepted invoices as e-invoices, thus creating another step in its overall environmental work.
- We have a stated goal of 100 percent e-invoicing. We have achieved 85 percent so far. And, as I said, we use the InExchange recipient service," says Christer Björkman with satisfaction.
So why InExchange?
- InExchange is different from a lot of traditional VAN operators who want to sell consulting hours instead of a service. We saw that they had previously managed to deploy many e-invoice providers very quickly and that they had good references from other customers. They felt like an interesting and exciting supplier.
Vasakronan had high expectations when introducing the project, which were quickly realized.
- It was a well-executed set-up project. It went quickly and we had a high connection rate of suppliers in a short time. We were helped by competent technicians who pulled a big and heavy load, says Christer.

Not only environmental benefits

Christer sees that more service companies can find good ways to a sustainable environment.
- "The e-invoice is the obvious choice. There is no need to transfer information from the computer to paper, which is then scanned and registered in the recipient's financial system when you can send it directly. In the long run, going green will be crucial to attracting customers. Both existing and new customers, predicts Christer Björkman, pointing out that every effort in this area is valuable.
- Many service-producing companies do not have much of a concrete environmental impact in their operations, but even the small things matter in the big picture. "You can focus, for example, on paper consumption in the office and how you take care of your waste," he suggests.

Vasakronan owns, develops and manages commercial properties in Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg and Malmö. Vasakronan is owned equally by the First, Second, Third and Fourth AP Funds. The owners are responsible for ensuring the long-term financing of the pension system and invest their capital in various asset classes to achieve a high and stable return. The companies in which the AP Funds invest are not only required to generate a return, but also to operate in a sustainable manner.
