Dynamic meeting point that creates opportunities
The University of Skövde, its student union and Skaraborg's private and public employers unite every year at the Career Fair Framtid.
It is a dynamic meeting point appreciated by all involved. 40 years after its inception, the event still attracts a lot of exhibitors.
"It's great to meet the students and tell them what kind of company we are," says Jenny Brian, HR Manager at InExchange.
The Career Fair Framtid at the University of Skövde celebrated its 40th anniversary this Thursday. The event was established in 1984 and is organized by the Student Union in Skövde. The purpose at the start 40 years ago was exactly the same as now: to be a meeting place for students and business. Through the exchange, a symbiosis is formed within which contacts are made that often lead to degree projects, internships, summer substitutes and even permanent employment.
- Yes, it is incredibly worthwhile that we have this place of education close to us, Jenny Brian confirms and points to some positive effects that the academic seat brings:
- It is not only students from Skövde who attend the university. The catchment area is far larger than that. Thanks to fairs like this, we can present the future opportunities and career paths available in Skövde and thus attract young people from outside to stay in the municipality. We are located in several places such as Östersund and Stockholm and have Gothenburg close by. Geographically, there is nothing that limits us, she points out.
High commitment
As in previous years, it was crowded with students making their way between the stands. The feeling one got in the crowd is that the Career Fair Future has not only safeguarded its position but continued to develop and grow in format. There were now as many as 68 exhibitors present. Together, these representatives from the private and public sectors filled two floors of the G building.
The area where InExchange had been placed was a hive of activity. A large number of employees from the company shared the staffing during the day. Many have a past at the university and know from their own experience how to reason as a student.
- It has been really fun to meet the commitment and willingness to help that our employees have shown. It is with pride that they have told us about our company and the opportunities we offer. They have really been great ambassadors for our business," says Jenny, emphasizing that the interaction between them is also valuable. As the representatives in the stand have their everyday lives in different departments, it is rare to get as much time together as this type of event offers.
The fair is primarily an employer branding mission, but at the same time creates important team building as a grateful synergy.
